BMW News

Car spotters in Europe have been posting pictures of BMW i8 test cars for many months. The latest from Autogespot contributor Techart is special. As you can see, Techart caught a pair of BMW i8s parked together. Both are factory test cars, as evidenced by their Munich license plates and Hybrid Test Vehicle stickers. What’s more interesting is that they were spotted in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, which is a stone’s throw from Monaco.

So the question is, did a couple of lucky BMW test drivers get to drive the plug-in hybrid sports cars all the way from Munich—or Leipzig where the production cars are made—to the French Riviera, or did BMW truck them there to gauge the reaction from the high-rollers that frequent that part of the world?—Scott Blazey
