I’m used to erratic weather. I have lived in Ohio since I can remember, starting out in Cincinnati, working my way to Columbus, and eventually winding up in Cleveland. I do not foresee a move to Toronto, but given my northwest progression, I’m not ruling it out. However, my heart is still anchored in Los Angeles, where I was born; I have fond memories of sunshine, so I suspect that I have already stretched the geographic limits of the homestead.

You may recall that last autumn I had a ’74 2002tii drop into my lap. I was at German Car Day at Larz Anderson Museum in Brookline, and a gentleman parked the car on the lawn right next to my E9. We chatted, and I learned that the car, owned by him since 1977, was now for sale.

Since my last Roundel Weekly column, a lot has taken place! I completed my second race with Turner Motorsport in the IHG Rewards Club BMW M6 GT3 at the 12 Hours of Sebring, where we ended up finishing in a very exciting second place! We worked extremely hard for that one, and our car performed flawlessly throughout the entire race. It truly came down to the very final laps—it was quite the nail-biter—and we were ecstatic to earn the M6 its first podium!

With my epic series on the most questionable wheel refinishing project in history mercifully concluded, I’m going to give you an easy one: a column about decrepitude and pain. You know, something light and chatty.

One of the great thing about the car community is the variety and the variety of people you meet along the way. In mid-March I was able to attend the incredible—and, thankfully, incredibly close-by—car extravaganza known as the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. As one would expect, BMW turned out in force, as did the enthusiast contingent for Saturday’s cars-and-coffee get-together to kick off the weekend.
