Early in September, my friend Andrew Wilson sent me a Facebook message recommending that I look at a post on the “2002 Fanatics” Facebook page. (As much as I may try, I can’t be everywhere at once, either physically or virtually, and this is not one of the pages I frequent.)

It is a common misconception that professional race-car drivers at the highest levels have a magic talent or secret trick up their sleeves to be as quick as they are, but in reality, whether you are racing at a club level or a pro level, in a race car or a street car, the basics of driving are the same for everybody. What is important is understanding the physics of it all, developing a feel for the limit, and executing it as well as you can.

’Tis the season to be thankful for what we have—and not what we hope to receive! In reflecting on the past year, I am, without a doubt, thankful for my family and friends; I'm thankful to Chris and Satch for giving me an opportunity to work with the BMW CCA, and to Horatiu Boeriu of BMWBlog, all those years ago, for taking a chance on my abrasive comments as a rough translation of writing ability.
